Piran is a coastal municipality with about 17.820 inhabitants. It is the most densely populated Slovenian municipality with 400 people per km2 (Slovenian average 102 persons/km2). The old town of Piran is one of the main tourist attractions in Slovenia.
Municipality could use the results of the project, because it has similar geographic characteristics (climate, topography, location on the coast). The location enables the municipality to use the sea water for heating/cooling purposes of public buildings. The municipality has implemented different actions of energy refurbishment of public buildings during past years.
